Congratulations to Geoff King, George McLean and Ken Stubbs who defeated John Pattison, Bob Lumb and Barry Driver in the final of the Major Triples. Geoff’s team set up a commanding lead before the arrival of Patto’s Currawongs team Mascot saw Patto narrow the lead to just one shot going into the second last end. In the end Geoffs team was too strong, bringing down the defending champs 25-22.

Steve heaps represented SCBC in the Zone 13 Champion of Champions last weekend at Moorefield in extremely difficult conditions. Whilst Steve bowed out in the first round to eventual winner and 2018 NSW Champion Dave Ferguson from Engadine, not many can say they led 3 -2 against the guy who ran 3rd in Australia last year, and have the photo to prove it!

A huge congratulations to Jim Twiss who has just won the Zone 13 Veterans singles. The veterans event is reserved for those aged 70 and over and as you can imagine is a hugely competitive event. Jim played a great game in the final to defeat his opponent Kevin Cummings from Blakehurst 25-17. Congratulations Jim, everyone at the club is proud of you.
The 2019 Major pairs quarter finals were played out last weekend.
John Paterson and Ray Power are through to the Semi Final having defeated Alan Hewson and Pat Watts, and will play Jim Twiss and Bob Lumb who enjoyed a last end victory over Andrew Schneller and Reg Chirgwin.
Barry Driver and Reg Saxelby sneaked past Ian Gregory and Munroe Kirkland and will meet Simon Boylan and Steve Heaps who enjoyed a come from behind victory over George McLean and Garry Smith.

The Consistency Singles kicks off this Weekend. Remember, whilst this is officially a Sunday Competition, players are welcome to play their match beforehand providing it is completed prior to the scheduled date. Players in the first round are responsible for organising their own markers and hopefully will find plenty of willing volunteers amongst those lucky enough to score a Bye in round 1. Please let the selectors know when you call in if you intend playing a singles match
Congratulations to Jim Twiss who has progressed through to the Semi Final of the Seniors (over 70) Zone 13 Singles. Jim will play former club Member Mick Souter in the Semi final at Engadine this Saturday 20th July and hopefully progress to Sundays Zone Final for the right to play in the State Finals. Well done Jim!
Simon Boylan made it through to the final 16 and narrowly missed out on a semi final berth in the Reserve Singles (Grade 5 and lower).
Well, we are now at the pointy end of the Blue ribbon event, the Major Singles. Last Saturday saw Ray Power, current Club Minor Singles Champion finish on top of current Major Singles Champion, Alan Hewson.
In the semi final, it took a marathon 40 ends finished in the twilight for Steve Heaps to secure a fantastic come from behind victory over Simon Boylan.
With both Steve and Ray joining Simon in the State Reserve Triples next weekend it could be a couple of weeks before the final gets played, but best of luck to both Steve and Ray.
Interesting fact. Due to a scheduling change, if Ray is successful, it will be the first time in the Clubs history that somebody has won the Minor and Major singles in the same year
