In a great final, Steve Heaps was victorious over Ray Power in the Major Singles Final. It was great to see Steve, who only started bowling 2 years ago and Ray, a new Member from Cronulla fighting it out. Steve adds the Major singles title to his 2018 Minor Singles title and Ray, this years Minor singles winner will, I’m sure, be out for revenge next year.
After winning through to the Sunday Quarter Finals of The Zone 13 Reserve Triples, Simon, Steve and Ray disposed of the Hillsdale team in 24 ends to progress to the afternoons Semi Final against Wests Leagues. In a hard fought match where the lead changed constantly, the boys went into the last end down just One shot. Unfortunately they weren’t able to find it and bowed out 22 -19 in a brave effort. Despite the loss, the boys were proud of their efforts and happy to answer the question “Who are South Cronulla?” They certainly know who we are now!
The much anticipated Major Single Final between Steve Heaps and Ray Power was today delayed as the boys joined Simon Boylan to compete in the NSW Reserve Triples. The NSW Reserve Triples is for players graded 5, 6 and 7. Despite a few teams asking “who are South Cronulla?”, they enjoyed a great result with the boys winning both games to progress to the final 8 in the Zone.
They’re hoping to cause a further delay for the Major Singles with 2 more wins on Sunday needed to get them through to the Zone Final next weekend.
